Monica Saenz, LMSW Supervised by Kathy Giovas, LCSW-S

Monica Saenz is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) at WellMind who works with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma-related concerns. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

Monica earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, Texas, and is currently pursuing her Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential under supervision. She has extensive experience supporting women who have experienced abuse and loss, as well as adolescents facing emotional, relational, and life-transition challenges. Her background includes work with complex trauma, PTSD, and anxiety across a variety of settings.

Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based strategies, anger management, and other trauma-informed modalities. Monica has received specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), personally trained by Dr. Temperance Cervantes, and is also trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) with Alexander Technique–informed somatic interweaves. These approaches support nervous system regulation, trauma processing, and increased mind–body awareness when clinically appropriate.

Monica takes a person-centered approach, helping clients identify internal strengths and external resources that support healing, resilience, and a stronger sense of self and belonging. She has experience working with immigrant communities, adolescents ages 13–17, and women who have survived domestic or sexual abuse, and she values therapy as a collaborative process rooted in self-awareness, growth, and empowerment.

Monica practices under the supervision of Kathy Giovas, LCSW-S.
