Dr. Johnson is a Licensed Psychologist and also maintains her Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. She holds a doctoral degree in Psychology from Walden University. She worked as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Texas at El Paso, providing therapy and served as their Assessment Supervisor for UTEP’s APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship Consortium (EPPIC). Dr. Johnson was an Adjunct Professor at UTEP teaching the Psychological Assessment course. She worked with active duty at Ft. Bliss as a staff Psychologist with US Department of Defense prior to making the decision to dedicating her time fully to her group private practice.
Dr. Johnson is often sought after for her psychological evaluations, clinical training, and trauma treatment. She focuses her professional development on complex-PTSD, dissociative disorders, neurofeedback, and attachment issues. She advocates a practice of mindfulness meditation and is trained in clinical hypnosis. Dr. Johnson is Certified in EMDR (eye-movement desensitization reprocessing) by the EMDRIA Board and is an Approved Consultant. She is also trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) therapy.
In addition to her counseling and assessment experience, Dr. Johnson is BCIA Board Certified in Neurofeedback. She administers qEEG brain mapping and facilitates neurofeedback training sessions using NewMind Technologies, BrainMaster, and HeartMath biofeedback systems. She is currently a QEEG-D Candidate training under the mentorship of Dr. Richard McAlister, a Chiropractic Physician.
She is dedicated to serving the needs of our community and has grown a professional group practice of well-trained and committed therapists. Dr. Johnson is available for EMDR consultation and training of doctoral interns and postdocs.
