Dr. Temperance Cervantes, PhD, BCN, QEEG-DL

Dr. Temperance Cervantes is a Texas Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) at WellMind. She earned her doctoral degree in Psychology from Walden University and has held clinical, supervisory, and teaching roles across academic, medical, military, and private practice settings.

Prior to founding WellMind, Dr. Cervantes served as a Clinical Psychologist at University of Texas at El Paso, where she provided psychotherapy and supervised psychological interns within UTEP’s APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship Consortium (EPPIC). She also taught Psychological Assessment as an Adjunct Professor at UTEP and worked as a staff psychologist for active-duty service members at Fort Bliss with the U.S. Department of Defense.

Dr. Cervantes is known for her clinical depth and leadership in trauma-informed, neuroscience-based care. Her areas of specialization include psychological evaluations, complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, attachment injuries, and the neurobiological underpinnings of trauma and recovery. She is EMDRIA Certified and serves as both an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and an EMDRIA-Approved Trainer, providing EMDR Basic Training and Advanced EMDR trainings through the WellMind Training Academy.

In addition to EMDR, Dr. Cervantes is trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR Levels 1–3), the Alexander Technique, clinical hypnosis, and mindfulness-based approaches. She integrates these modalities thoughtfully to support nervous system regulation, trauma processing, and long-term integration.

Dr. Cervantes is Board Certified in Neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) and Board Certified in QEEG by the International Quantitative EEG Certification Board (IQCB). She provides qEEG brain mapping and neurofeedback training using NewMind Technologies, BrainMaster, and HeartMath systems, offering assessment-based, individualized care.

Together with her husband, Julio Cervantes, Dr. Cervantes co-founded WellMind with a shared mission to bring compassionate, high-quality mental health care to the El Paso community. Combining her clinical expertise with Julio’s business leadership, they have built WellMind into a thriving group practice rooted in service, integrity, and innovation.

Dr. Cervantes remains deeply committed to mentoring and training the next generation of clinicians through EMDR consultation, advanced trainings, and the supervision of masters and doctoral interns and postdoctoral residents. Her work reflects a long-standing dedication to making neuroscience-informed, trauma-responsive care accessible to the community she calls home.
